Meet the band

BILL ROSEMAN - Guitar & Vocals

Born about forty years ago and raised in south New Jersey near Philadelphia, Pa., Bill Roseman met the blues through artists such as Michael Bloomfield and B.B. King. Picking up a guitar at age thirteen, young Bill began a musical odyssey that continues to this day. Moving to Belgium in late 1988, Bill immersed himself in the European blues world, founding the Medford Slim Band with Belgian blues harp maestro "Lazy" Lew Beckers in 1989. The band enjoyed a solid five year stint during which they released two c.d.'s and played numerous club and festival gigs. Highlights include their appearance at the 1992 Amsterdam Blues Festival, and their highly acclaimed set at the world renowned Belgian Rhythm and Blues Festival, where they shared the stage alongside such heavyweights as Roomful of Blues, Jeff Healey, the Cab Calloway Orchestra, and the Staple Singers. The band released two cds, including 1994's Come and Get It! which found the band branching out and strengthening their eclectic vision by adding R&B, funk, jazz, and even country strains into their personal blues sound...

By 1995, with the split of Medford Slim, Roseman found himself back in the States, where he worked the New York City-Long Island area regularly with his own trio. Since returning to Europe in '96, Roseman has remained busy fronting his own bands or as a sideman for others. With a guitar style influenced by, among others, the likes of Albert Collins, "Magic Sam" Maghett, and Roy Buchanan, Bill has backed up various musicians including Belgium's Luke Walter Jr., Jan Akkerman and Finnish harp great Pepe Ahlqvist. Roseman also did a stint as guitarist and vocalist in The (former B.B. King bandleader) Calvin Owens Blues Orchestra. Either in appearances fronting his own band or with others Bill Roseman has proved he is an international attraction appearing throughout Europe and the U.S.A., spreading the blues gospel with his gutsy performances. The eclectic set list includes songs ranging from the likes of bluesmen like T-Bone Walker and Little Walter to James Brown and Jimi Hendrix, plus Bill's original funky, rootsy tunes.
